We, as Catholics, profess in the belief of the communion of Saints. In our churches and in our homes, we see images of saints. We commemorate them by celebrating their feasts. But what do we really know about the Saints? How many saints do we know? Why do we have to pray to them? What can they do in our lives? This month let’s get to know the Saints and be inspired to be like them.

As we have grown older as single men and women, we have become pre-occupied with a lot more things. Our careers have become our first priority. Times have changed and we have become distracted with a lot of different activities nowadays – social media, dine out with officemates, movie nights with friends, going to the gym, and all our other activities. And in all these, we sometimes tend to invest less of our time and of ourselves to what matters most – our families.
Mary is known to be a woman of obedience. She is admired by many because of her bravery to follow God’s will and her devotion to God in whatever situation. She walked a difficult path and witnessed the most important and most heart-breaking events in history but still stood firm in faith beside her son, Jesus. Because of these, we look up to her not only as the Mother of Jesus but as the Mother of all.
The world today and the world 2000 years ago is rarely the same. It has changed and is continuously changing. Pope Francis said, “We are not living an era of change, but a change of era” and no matter what we do, we will never be able to escape these changes. It is something that presses us out of our comfort zones. It is destiny-filtered and faith-built. Change is God’s way of telling us that no matter how transformed the world is, His love will remain the same and His plans will still prevail.
