Have you ever experienced being heartbroken? We are all longing for True Love that is selfless.

It is particularly heartbreaking in today’s world where the poor, are literally dying for lack of food and basic necessities. This is particularly tragic as we consider that there are more than enough resources in the world today to feed all the hungry. If we are comprised of one-third of the world’s population and Christian nations that are part of the super-rich first world only live out this evangelical virtue of almsgiving, the problem of at least the hungry, would be solved. And it starts with you when you give.

This Year of the poor you can be part of this New Evangelization. Indeed, True Love can heal the brokenness of the poor.

Walking together in unity

Chapter Teaching And Household Topics for September 2015 are Now Available

What is unity? Why is it important? As Christians, how can we live in unity? Paul gave us an answer in Ephesians:

I, then, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love, striving to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace: one body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:1-6)

Paul exhorted the community in Ephesians to live a life worthy of the calling that they have received. (v. 1). He encouraged them to preserve unity as they share one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism and one God. Paul reminded the Ephesians that living in unity is the best way they can witness to non-believers.

Unity in the body of Christ is important because through unity, people will distinguish that we are followers of Christ. In the Book of Acts, because of the unity of the believers, they sold their properties, have everything in common and distributed to all according to their need (Acts 4:32-34). This is powerful witnessing!

Finding Rest in God

Chapter Teaching And Household Topics for August 2015 are Now Available

In our fast-paced world, where there are a lot of distractions and pressures in life, we can’t help but feel tired and burned-out from all our day to day activities. Even our daily commute contributes to our major sources of stress. Our workplaces, our officemates, even our friends and loved ones, well-meaning as they are, can also add to our daily stresses.

When we are stressed out, we not only feel tired but we also become unproductive, sluggish and lethargic. We are not able to accomplish the tasks that we’re supposed to do, and we sometimes neglect the important people in our lives. When we are stressed-out, we focus on ourselves; we tend to prioritize self-preservation among other things. We come to neglect the people around us, since we feel like we’ve given too much but received so little.

When we are so tired and stressed out, the number one solution that comes to mind is to rest. But sometimes, we feel like resting is just a waste of time, since there is so much that needs to be done. But let us be reminded that resting doesn’t necessarily mean laziness. To rest means to renew your energy for you to be more productive instead of continuously working that leads to burnout.

Through all these stresses and distractions, how can we cope up? How and where can we find rest? To address these things, let us first identify the different kinds of tiredness we feel and how can we address it.

At one point in our lives, we have all said, “Why me?” There was a point in your life that you have asked God why does he allow bad things to happen to good people? If He loves us, why does he allow the sufferings that we experience in life?

For us to understand suffering, we must first understand the origin of sin and suffering. Saint Paul said that death came into the world through sin. God did not design man to suffer and die. Contrary to it, God wants us to be in harmony with all the things that He made. This was forfeited when man chose to sin. We inherited this fallen nature and that’s why we have “original sin”. With this, comes suffering and death.
