I was invited to go on a weekend mission trip to Tandag however I had a seminar scheduled on the dates of the mission, so I declined. Days before the trip, I received a text message and was asked again if I could go. The timing was right because the seminar was cancelled. Without any hesitations, I said “yes” to the invitation. All I can think was that God has a purpose and has called me for a reason to step out of my comfort zone. God has really planned that mission trip for me.
I was full of excitement because it was my first time to go in a mission. I didn’t have any expectations for I believe that in times when you are least expectant for good things to happen, it’s when God does awesome things. Indeed, God works in remarkable ways! The place was great, the people were generous and I’m learning things that have changed the course of my life.
There were three things I’m reminded in this first mission trip:
Usually when I’m assigned to give talks, I prepare for a week. But in this case, I only had one day to prepare for two talks. I was nervous when it was my time to give the talks because I’m not really ready. It was amazing, God didn’t fail me. God reminded me to trust Him and have that courage. I was able to deliver the talks and felt so completely led by the Holy Spirit and my words were not my own. God has given me the wisdom and the strength.
Second, a part of the talk I was giving was about prayer, I came to realize that I myself has not even establish a regular prayer time. So I promised that I’ll commit to have a prayer time. God has transformed me once again. When I got home, I started that commitment to spend time in prayer everyday and reading the Scripture. Having that relationship with God makes me feel secured and it increases my hunger to go deeper in my relationship to know Him better.
And last is how to deal with people. I was quite worried and anxious because I’m not a sociable person. I can’t make friends easily and doesn’t talk a lot. When I arrived in the area, I felt welcomed. Titos, Titas and the CFC-SFL members I met were kind and warm that I became comfortable talking to them. I felt like I’ve known them for weeks or even months. God is really good. God has led me to these incredible people. He used them as instruments for me to overcome whatever fears and anxieties I have in dealing with people. I’m also reminded that I need to give more efforts in reaching out especially to the SFLs in my area to keep them back on track.
I’m so thrilled and blessed for the amazing adventure! I’m now absolutely ready to keep stepping out of my comfort zone in faith and letting Him lead me into His plans. I’m excited for my next mission. I’m excited to experience the things He has prepared for me and for the people I come in contact with. Because He has great plans for my life and all I need is to trust Him completely.
May God be praised!
