Tired? Burned out? Feeling empty and lost? You might be in need of some inspiration! Here are some tips on how you could stay on top of the game despite life’s ups and downs
1. Focus on your life goals.
Motivate yourself through your life goals. Think of the things that you want to achieve in the next five years. Write them down. Think of it as a letter to yourself. Post that letter inside your room. Read your letter every morning, especially at times when you’re too lazy to get up. Make another copy of the letter and put it inside your wallet. Read it whenever and wherever you need it. Let’s say you’re in the office and your boss was just too mean. Go, read your letter, remind yourself that you have a goal, you have a purpose.
2. Count your blessings.
Close your eyes, and instead of wallowing on your problems, focus on how faithful the Lord has been to your life. Your current job, your family, your service, your missions – count all these blessings! Pour your energy into seeing beauty in your given situation. When overwhelmed with negative thoughts, pray three Hail Mary’s with all sincerity, and let the Blessed Mother fill you with grace. At the end of the day, it is what you let into your heart that fills you up, so don’t let negative feelings dwell in you.
3. Find a life mentor.
You don’t have to go through life alone. It helps if you have someone to talk to personally and ask for advice about life. He or she could be a priest, your parents, your boss, or anyone who knows you well and has a huge impact in your life. You can also draw life inspiration from your friend saint, your favorite author, or someone you don’t personally know but has lived or is living a grace-filled life. Their faith, works and wisdom are sure to keep you back on track.
Once in a while you really have to unwind and relax. Computers freeze when overused. How much more, you? Try going out on a trip. Explore! Watch a movie. Get a full body massage. Eat your comfort food. Do the things that lift your soul. Or, get enough sleep. Your feeling of being “uninspired” might be your body’s way of telling you to rest.
5. Pick up your Bible and read.
Where else can one find the best inspiration, but from the Lord? However, some people don’t read the bible because they do not know where to start. Best way to start is reading the daily scriptures. There are books and apps that contain the readings for the daily mass (for one year) that usually come with reflections related to the readings. Take a moment of silence, read, and be inspired with God’s Words. As the Lord had said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Pray to God and cast to Him all your worries, fears, and sufferings. Ask for other people to pray for you, too. Things may not always go your way, but never forget that God always has a better plan for you. Let His promises be an inspiration for you to get going no matter what. Everything is possible to those who believe. Let God inspire you each day as you inspire others, too!
