Adventure comes in different forms, but for mountain lovers, adventure comes in rocky trails and exhilarating mountain peaks. Whether you’re a beginner hiker who wants to take on a new challenge, or a trailblazer who seeks the thrill of conquering heights, here’s five peaks to tick off your bucket list:
Located in San Miguel, Bulacan, this mountain is perfect for beginners and chill hikers because of its friendly height of 196 MASL, paired with a flat terrain. Aside from hiking, visitors can also try caving, swimming in the river, or crossing the famous Monkey Bridge. Those feeling a bit more adventurous may also try twin hiking all the way to Mt. Gola.
2. Pico de Loro
This dormant volcano found in the province of Cavite is another adventurer’s favorite because it offers a more challenging terrain. The mountain stands at 664 MASL and is said to be one of the highest peaks of the province. For water lovers, make sure you include Pico de Loro Waterfalls in your itinerary!
An active volcano that stretches up to 960 MASL, this mountain charms adventurers with its majestic crater and scenic view of neighboring provinces. Found in the Cabusilan Mountains of Luzon, Pinatubo’s rocky terrain adds excitement to the mountain-top experience.
This mountain is at the heart of the great Sierra Madre mountain range, in Tanay Rizal. Formidable at 739 MASL, Daraitan is adorned with beautiful limestone rock formations that explorers shouldn’t miss. As an extra treat, one can take a dip at Tinipak River, which is said to be one of the country’s cleanest free-flowing rivers.
Standing at 2922 MASL, Mt Pulag is the trailblazer’s dream. This highest peak in Luzon is popular for its forests and the grassland summit where one can witness a magnificent sea of clouds. Third highest mountain in the Philippines next to Mt Apo and Mt Dulang-dulang, exlorers can choose from four different major trails located within the provinces of Benguet, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya.
Climbing mountains can be challenging, but is worth it once you’ve reached the top. Go, explore, and let the Lord show you the magnificence of His creation. However, never stay on top. You are bound to go down the mountain to share the beautiful experience with others.
