Living as an Easter People

The Suggested Chapter Teaching And Household Topics for April 2016 are Now Available

We always hear the statement that “Christians are Easter people.” And indeed, we truly are. We follow, obey and proclaim Jesus as our Lord because of His resurrection. All Christianity’s testimony hinges on the resurrection of Christ. St. Paul writes:

And if Christ has not been raised, then empty (too) is our preaching; empty, too, your faith. (1 Corinthians 15:14)

Easter is important because the resurrection of Jesus separates Him from all other faith in the world. If Jesus has not resurrected, He will just be a great preacher like all others. It is only Jesus who can claim power over our greatest enemy: death.  Through His resurrection, His rising symbolizes also our rising  from death caused by our sins.

The New Year is an exciting time for everyone as it promises us a new beginning. If the previous year did not go as planned, we have this year to start fresh. This is the time to make resolutions, promises and pick up new habits.

We are staring to a blank page at the start of this year. We have a pen and God gave us the power to write our story. We can settle for this that are given to us or we could make an adventure of a life in God.  Whether we will live on victory or the same mediocre life, it is up to us.

Chapter Teaching And Household Topics for December 2015 are Now Available

December is the time of the year when we usually pause and look back at the things that happened throughout the year. We look back at the things that we have done which we hope we have done better, things that we hoped to do but didn’t have the time to do so, and things that we wished we have done but didn’t have enough courage to do so. This is the time of the year wherein we try to assess ourselves. We ask these questions: How are we? Where are we going? Is everything okay with our lives? Are we happy? How can we be happier? Are we contented?

Our life as an SFL member is like a long drive journey, which only ends when we reach our destination – heaven. It has been another year of this journey with the Lord and it has been filled with both ups and downs. It has not been easy but we still continue to press on towards our ultimate life goal. But in faith, we find “the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen for it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. (Hebrews 11:1).

The many things we have experienced brought us to where we are now. The many things we are faced with bring us to somewhere else  tomorrow. At the end of it all, we hope to have finished strong saying, “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)” when we finally meet the Lord face to face. As this year comes to an end, we reflect upon our faith journey with the Lord. Where are we in this life journey? Are we hindered? Are we still driven towards heaven?
